Christmas Cake
There are some Christmas traditions that I don't really want to give up - one of these traditions is having a dense slice of boozy Christmas fruit cake smothered with ice cream or custard... So when my sensitive tummy denied me this - Christmas never really seemed the same anymore. Inevitably - I was led to make this Christmas cake - and upon testing a successful version it threw me back to memories of Christmas past... and you couldn't wipe the grin off my face!
So here is our traditional Christmas cake - gluten free, dairy free, soy free and yeast free.
It's available now in two sizes - you can order online or if you want to pick one of these up at the Northside Produce Market on the 15th December please pop us an email at orders@misslulus.com.au
Lots of love as always,
Miss Lulu xo

I love my dad so much!
I love my dad so much! I just had a big laugh out loud moment...
When I sent my dad this pic - he wrote back and said:
"If all men were like your cupcakes, there will be no war forever!"
He always manages to make me laugh - even when there is nothing funny at all!Tomorrow morning at the Northside Produce Market we'll be selling these moustached fellows to raise money for Movember - these are in honour of my hubby, my dad and my dad-in-law.

Egg Free & Vegan Tummies Rejoice!
Ever since I posted a photo on Instagram of our chocolate donuts (once again a testament to the power of social media!) Vegan Food Share - an instagram profile that features vegan pictures from around the world - approached me to see if we would be interested in being featured. Once we agreed - our instagram followers grew exponentially - and I was delighted to see how many hungry, appreciative vegans there are out in the world!
To be honest - the reason why I made things without egg was to accommodate the sensitive tummies out there that can't tolerate it - so it didn't even occur to me that vegans would be interested! But interested they have been - and I've become even more determined to build on our menu and the next thing I've been trying to conquer is an egg free, vegan vanilla cake.
But try after try - I couldn't quite get it right.
Enter one of my gorgeous customers, Carolyn. Her favourite treat has always been the apple crumble cupcake and I still remember the first time I delivered them to her - she skipped towards me with excitement with her adorable puppy Columbo - it was a sight that was so sweet and beautiful. And since then - I've seen her come by and without fail it's always been the apple crumble cupcake.
So when she wrote to me and told me she had become vegan as well and whether she could get a vegan apple crumble cake for her birthday - I swung into action and realised I had to tackle this recipe once and for all and conquer it!
I warned her that it may fail and she very diplomatically said she'd be happy with just the apple pie filling, the dairy free cream and the crumble. So I made sure I had a lovely bowl on hand in case disaster struck.
All I can say is thank goodness for her willingness to be my test subject!
And did it work? The picture of the above is the result - which is all well and good - but what did it taste like? Here is the amazing response from Carolyn which she texted to me 20 minutes after I left:
"I can give you feedback already. You nailed it!! The texture & density is so nice and moist. I think I even prefer this to your normal version of this cake! Absolutely delicious Lulu! I've just had a 2nd piece & stand by what I said above. Your apple pie like filling, cream, and crumble on top is divine. You are a star xoxo With love from your very satisfied test subject : ) Carolyn"
So now - I'm very very happy to announce that ALL of our cupcake flavours & cakes are available by special order for all of my egg free, vegan friends. All you have to do when ordering online (click here to order now!) is choose the egg free/vegan option or if you want a customised cake - just give me a call xo And if we're popping up somewhere - just email through to me at orders@misslulus.com.au and I'll fire up the oven for your own little beauties x
With lots of love xo

Two Vegan Girls ♥ Banana Loaf
I was recently approached by a beautiful customer via twitter for one dozen cinnamon donuts. It still amazes me how the word spreads via twitter, facebook, instagram - social media is incredible... Anyway because of my foray into these mediums there has been alot of vegan love & encouragement out there for Miss Lulu's which has completely blown me away.
On that occasion - I remember distinctly how devoted her husband was - and he turned up to the market with a friendly smile on his face and you could clearly see he adored her. I really love meeting people who are picking up goodies for their loved one - it makes me feel like the world is a better place with people like that around. Anyway - because of that I couldn't resist sending him home with a mini banana loaf...
On the next occasion when we were popping up - she asked me to make her a custom large version of our banana loaf.
And the result is that she took this amazing photo and kindly let me publish it here for you all to see. Not only is she lovely - but she's a great photographer too!
Anyway - she also happens to be on facebook too - under the name Two Vegan Girls - one girl from Sydney and one from Melbourne. And the review for our banana loaf was completely overwhelming in its generosity - I am blessing my lucky stars right now.
This is what she said:
"One of the best things about being vegan is that you don't need to miss out on things that you enjoyed before going vegan - you just enjoy a slightly different version. Today I was lucky enough to have banana bread made by the incredibly talented Miss Lulu's Dessert Parlour in Sydney.
This banana bread is definitely one of the best that I've ever had. It was so delicious! :)
In addition to vegan treats, Miss Lulu specialises in gluten free, yeast free, soy free goods.
Thank you, Miss Lulu for bringing such delicious food to Sydney! V xx"
One of the best that I've ever had... You can't get better than that...
All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU SO SO SO VERY MUCH xo
