THANK YOU!

So I hung up my apron and completed all of my book keeping (I must say baking is so much more fun!)... Now I've finally put my swollen feet up on the couch to prepare for the arrival of Little Lulu... but I couldn't completely rest until I sent you all a very big THANK YOU for your enthusiasm, support and understanding during this special time.

I have had such a massive amount of love sent my way - the well wishes have been very overwhelming - wishes filled with such generosity and care.  I really feel as if I have this bonus family out there who take a genuine interest in my well being - I am so fortunate to be able to have met so many people with hearts of gold in my Miss Lulu adventures.

So - now as so many of you have been demanding and requesting - I am now beginning my very own cookbook - filled with all of the recipes from the treats you've been eating as well as a few more!  I would really love any feedback you might have - any food dreams that you've been having and I can give it a try and make that dream come true!

In the meantime - I will keep you all posted on the progress of the book with pictures and stories and of course will let you know when Little Lulu arrives xo  This is not goodbye - but I will certainly miss baking for you all! xo

Speak to you all soon and lots of love!
Miss Lulu xo

LIttle Lulu is on the way...

It has truly been a whirlwind since Mr Lulu & I announced the impending arrival of our precious Little Lulu!

I must thank everyone for their patience & understanding - demand increased exponentially since that announcement and I suddenly found myself booked out weeks in advance. So many missed out - and I know it wasn't easy being turned away.

And now it is time to announce that Miss Lulu will be hanging up her apron on Friday, 30 August to prepare for Little Lulu's arrival.  So for those of you who want to taste something for the last time before I return - please do get your orders in soon as alot of the dates before this time are already booked. I appreciate your patience with me during this time.  I will try my very best to accommodate as many people as I can.

But I won't completely disappear though - Miss Lulu will stay in touch with new things on the horizon and will be back before you know it!

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank every single one of you for your enthusiasm and support during this incredible adventure!  I look forward to introducing you when Little Lulu makes their entrance into the world!

With lots of love, appreciation and all my best wishes,
Miss Lulu xox

Little Lulu

You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet in Miss Lulu's world recently...

This is because Miss Lulu & Mr Lulu would like to announce that we are expecting a baby later this year - a little Lulu to be welcomed into the world!

Whilst we are ecstatic by this news - we've had to make a very difficult decision to step back from our monthly appearance at the Northside Produce Markets until 2014 in consideration of doctors advice.

However - don't despair! Our online store will keep on baking up a storm in the meantime so we aren't disappearing altogether! So our treats are still just a click away!

We really love & appreciate all of your support & sincerely thank you for all of your patience and understanding during this time.

Alessandro - 7 weeks of good health & counting...

In an ideal world all children should have a magical and innocent childhood and it should be filled with wonder and joy.

When Alessandro's mother called me to organise cupcakes and cakes for her son's birthday - she told me about Alessandro's tummy troubles and his story really struck a chord with me.  Despite having the coeliac gene and despite his mother and brother both having coeliac disease - there were clear stumbles in diagnosing his condition. Subsequently Alessandro has been very sick for most of his life.

Alessandro used to vomit so frequently that eventually he thought it was normal.  So much so that he would quietly go to the bathroom on his own.  His mum, wanting answers and help, took him to a paediatrician whose answer was to send him to a speech pathologist - the thought was that a speech pathologist could help him keep his food down!

Finally - when his mum was approached by people at a restaurant telling her with alarm that her son was getting sick in the bathroom on his own - she took matters into her own hands, and said enough was enough! She put Alessandro on a gluten free diet even though doctors told her not to.

And now - seven weeks into it - Alessandro hasn't been sick.  Hooray!!!!  My heart is bursting with happiness at the thought of it!!

I remember during my diagnosis being told to keep eating gluten to make sure I got the right test result in my biopsy (even though my blood test was positive for coeliac disease) and I couldn't believe what I was hearing - being told that a test result was more important than months of continued illness.  To hear that a young boy was also told to suffer in the same way as me made me all the more determined to try and bring back some magic into his life.

So we had alot of fun - Alessandro's mum got him some cupcakes for his birthday - and then he had two cakes for two parties in his honour.  What a privilege it was to bake for him!

Alessandro - you are such a tough little cookie!  So many people from all walks of life could learn a big lesson from you in learning how to deal with what life puts in front of them.  I'm sure that your mum and dad are very very proud of you and I'm so so happy to hear that you are beginning to feel better.  After everything you've been through you deserve everything that is wonderful!

I can't wait to hear about your continued progress and wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

With lots of love xo

Love to Zinnia & her family xo

In 2012 one of the highlights of my year was that we went international...  Somehow (and special mention goes to beautiful Dee the Foodie!) via the grapevine there were a few special people who sent out our treats to their loved ones in Sydney.

One person who made a particular impact on me is Zinnia. One day I got an order from this beautiful girl - a local from Sydney who had moved to India for many months.  And as I learnt pretty quickly - she is deeply loved and everyone was missing her terribly.

So after that first order many others began flowing in - and before I knew it I found myself having the pleasure and honour of being her message of love for quite a few friends and family.

My most favourite order of all was the mint choc chip cake that I baked for her mother's 60th birthday.  The photo above is of the moment her mother received her cake - she looks pretty stunning doesn't she?!

Anyway - I remember being ushered inside by her gorgeous father who sat me down and welcomed me like I was his family.  His beaming pride for his daughter was very apparent and his cute smile was so heartwarming.  After meeting both her parents - I could clearly see where Zinnia got her kindness and generosity from - and I walked away that day with a instant understanding of how much her parents love and adore her.

After that day - I planned to write a blog post about her - but I was waiting till the moment I could see her again so I could capture a pic of her. That moment was hopefully going to be this Saturday.

But I just found out that her dad - the one with heartwarming smile - has been unwell and he just had surgery last Monday.  Thankfully - I've heard that he is well and will be coming home very soon. Because of that I didn't want to miss this opportunity to send love to Zinnia and her family - and to give all my best wishes to her Dad for a very speedy recovery.

Zinnia - thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your messages of love and celebration - it was a real honour x  I look forward to giving you a hug to say thank you... And I hope that your Dad is okay.  He will be all the more stronger now that you're back to give him your love in person xo

With lots of love xo
